Lyrica

Now in its eighth season, Lyrica is a touring choir of girls ages 10 to 16. The choir also performs with OFC’s Fiero as a co-ed treble choir. This year’s highlights include joining with Fiero to perform Carmina Burana and the Nutcracker with the Eugene Ballet; a spring tour to Philadelphia; and concerts on December 10 and May 20.

Lyrica has twice served as host choir for the Pacific International Children’s Choir Festival. Lyrica has sung the National Anthem for NCAA basketball games at the University of Oregon and joined with Fiero to sing Bach's St. Matthew Passion at the 35th annual Oregon Bach Festival in June of 2004. Lyrica received one silver (2003) and two gold medals (2004, 2005) at the Oregon ACDA Ensemble Festival.

The Girlchoir goes on tour each season. Past tours have taken the girls to California and British Columbia. In July 2004, members of Lyrica and Fiero took their first overseas tour to England. They sang an Evensong service and, as part of the International Children's Choir Festival Chorus, gave a major performance at Canterbury Cathedral followed up by a concert with members of the London Symphony in London's Westminster Hall.

Lyrica regularly collaborates with local professional performing arts organizations including the Oregon Bach Festival, Eugene Concert Choir, Oregon Mozart Players, Eugene Ballet and Opera companies, Dance Theatre of Oregon, and OFAM. The girlchoir has also worked with some of the world’s finest children’s choir conductors, including Henry Leck, Sandra Snow, Doreen Rao, Bob Chilcott, James Litton, Axel Theimer, Walter Turnbull, and others. Collaborations with touring choirs from England, Australia, Spain, Canada, and throughout the U.S. are also a regular feature of the OFC experience.

Lyrica welcomes new members in September and January.
